There has not been much said in the general media but X Games 14 was a major hit amongst the extreme sport elite and amounted to a virtual BMX super performance.

On July 30th X Games 14 kicked off with street elims in the BMX Freestyle Street Elims. The competition was intense because as always the stakes are high, but those with the real desire and drive to win and make their mark upon history made their presence known withstood the pressure.

After heated competition, the top six out of twelve to finish were Garrett Reynolds, Van Homan, Sean Saxton, Brian Kachinsky, Dakota Roche and Seth Kimbrouch. All scoring was pretty tight between the top six but Garrett Reynolds edged it out in the elims and left this particular round as the top contender. The next day the BMX Freestyle Finals were held and here again Garrett Reynolds ran away with it and sealed his place in the history of X Games competition by placing first in the finals with Van Homan, Sean Sexton, Brian Kachinsky, Dakota Roche and Nathan Williams placing second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

That next day you had the elimination round of the BMX Freestyle SuperPark element of the X Games. In this round the top 10 advanced to the finals which consisted of Daniel Dhers, Gary Young, Dingo Canina, Ryan Guettler, Alistair Whitton, Chase Hawk, Rob Darden, Corey Bohan, Dennis Enarson and Morgan Wade.

In this round Daniel Dhers clearly dominated the competition leading the next closest competitor by six full points. The next day Daniel Dhers was the man! Blowing away the competion in the finals seeming almost perfect in his performances. The second closest competitor , Diogo Canina, found himself eleven points behind Daniel Dhers in the first round and fourteen points behind in the second round. Clearly, Daniel Dhers steps it up every day he gets on the bike and does his thing.

Another main attraction was the BMX Freestyle Vert competition. Out of a field of ten consisting of Jamie Bestwick, Chad Kagy, Steve McCann, Jimmy Walker, Dennis McCoy,Kevin Robinson, Coco Zurita, Zack Warden, Jay Eggleston, and Simon Tabron, Jamie Bestwick stood head and shoulders above the rest when the dust cleared by winning the finals by six points over the second place finisher Chad Kagy.

On a side note, X Games 14 was the first-ever X Games to have BMX Street Competition which not only was historic but it was just outright entertaining and awesome. Cory Bohan was doing his thing as well as Brian Foster and Sean Sexton. Look for this area of competition to become more intense and exciting as it grows in popularity and skill.

The bikes of choice of these high-quality competitors were the BMX and Mongoose brands. These brands, long thought to be in the graveyard of performance and trick bicycles are still the mainstay of the best in the business. These bikes at one time were solely used by kids for exercise and health benefits but now are the bike of choice of the top competitors of the X Games.
